I feel minimal bass sounds much better than horribly distorted bass.

The iPod remembers the volume settings for the speakers and headphones separately, so if you plug the headphones in, volume is set to the level it was the last time headphones Meaning that I can move the volume slider and the volume doesn't change; only when I move it to the very far left the volume shuts off. This is the opposite problem - the speaker stays on when you plug in headphones.
The other thing is to frequently wipe off your headphone plug before you insert it in the jack. No, it sucks. There are metal contacts inside that normally touch each other, completing the connection that makes the internal speaker play. Was this answer helpful?
