That was correct in a way. Update, permissions and Bezel combo repaired my MBP after Lion's Upgrade. ;) Paul Kruger Sorry, coming in very late here, just want to post my success: Parallels was my killer. I've stopped plugging stuff in and out trying to make it work. Yesterday, suddenly crashed, and the internal speakers got the error in matter. didn't have to do anything at all. Sound Not Working On Macbook Pro
The volume logo on the toolbar is gray and when you try to move the volume it doesnt move, and there is a little 0 with a slash thru it beneath useful reference Thank you for the help. I solved the problem by opening Terminal.app and pasting the following command: sudo killall coreaudiod This quits the Core Audio daemon. Using MacBook running 10.10.5 Tried the solution described by Si Knight in August and it worked after that. I don't think this is limited to OS X Yosemite but you never know given how buggy it is. Socheesome Step 5 solved my problems… Thank-you so so so much..
