Macbook Trackpad Not Clicking Well
My salesman was surprised when the computer let him offer the battery for free. Removed a swelling battery last year. For temporary relief of a trackpad that does not click can be accomplished by pushing it down. It could be then not a physical problem, but kind of a "calibrating" issue.
Surely, the battery wouldn't be the problem with the mouse. I had bought a new one. I'm having this exact issue! My cursor wouldn't ‘listen' to me and I couldn't get anything done.
I purchased a remanufactured(thought it was new) Macbook online several years ago.
took battery out, left it out, used mouse only, cleaned the trackpad, etc, etc, etc .... Macbook Pro Trackpad Hard To Click Would taking it to Apple be a good idea? But Clay (and those who have experienced this problem), what do you think is the root cause of the problem besides the battery? Have an old broken zippo lighter laying around?

It took me an age to work out that it was the touch pad. Surprisingly, what happened there was that when the technician right clicked on my trackpad, everything went back to normal! I found this MacbookPro trackpad click fix trick in the comments to this video that shows how to fix it by taking your computer apart. You can guide the connector using a small flathead screwdriver. As the battery expands it presses on the trackpad so a new battery may be needed eventually and I was lucky The Apple Store gave me one out of warranty for Macbook Pro 15 Mid 2009 Trackpad Replacement The adjustment screw takes a three-pointed ("tri-wing") driver, but I got it to turn by using a smaller 6-sided driver I had laying around.
On my MBP2008 the trackpad was acting up, finally it became difficult, as in more force than I felt was safe to apply, to click. I honestly thought pushing down on the trackpad would just break it even more, but it was such an easy fix. Hardware issues are not fun and can definately be a pain, but fortunately mine was in the software. The serial number on hardware just tells me 13 inch, mid 2009. Here's the removal and replacement procedure. Thank you so much.

So my question is, where can I find a replacement for that screw? another satisfied customer!nt
