The "Move content" untick worked for me (after temporarily plugging in a basic Apple mouse.) Now my Microsoft Explorer mouse works like a charm. All rights reserved. But he prefers to buy watches. It might happen once every 5-6 blue moons, so it's just a minor annoyance. Now I'm back to good-well, almost. But how about not spinning this? Repeat steps 2 and 3 above, replacing "yes" with "no" if you ever feel the need to reverse this behavior.

I went to System Preferences > Mouse > but couldn't locate "Scroll Direction" but did notice that there is a toggle box that was checked that said, "Move content in direction Several functions may not work. My problem was that the computer was recognizing the mouse as a Mighty Mouse and not a Magic Mouse and would not allow the scroll and swipe capabilities.

It works! The swipe doesn't work unless I do a manual restart. If the right hand side exhibits the same issue as the left then it's software (which given you have a similar issue with the trackpad is almost a given). All I have are tracking speed and double click speed slider bars!  Lion is unusable in this awful scrolling condition.    April I also do not have the option to tick
